It’s a physical impossibility. And here’s one of my favorite examples of someone who is 119lbs, lifts incredibly heavy weights, THE HEAVIEST, in fact, but she is dwarfed by every man near her. She is in the front frame (video here: https://www.instagram.com/p/ByuuuJyD6FR/), closest to us, which makes her appeaR MUCH bigger (they call this “out-angling”); yet she still looks tiny in comparison to the ref behind her. You’re going to gain “too much” muscle lifting a fraction of what this 119lb girl does? Don’t kid yourself.
There are a few hundred people on earth who genetically make very little myostatin, and even they can’t gain “too much.” Even childhood super athletes, who have the extreme advantage of epigenetic anabolism and extreme early sarcoplasmic hypertrophy can’t gain “too much.” Even steroid and GH users have a limit on how much food they can get into the body. DEXA is a rude awakening for people. They find out that at a body weight of 150lbs they have less lean tissue than when they were 110lbs in adolescence. Avoiding intense exercise and heavy weight lifting is training to be weak, soft, and in a nursing home. You’ll be lucky if you MAINTAIN an ounce of muscle as you age.

I think I’ve found the limit of the toes, but certainly not the limit of the knees. Picking up from the last post, I followed up on that split stance with squats and extremely heavy calf raises with these sissies (video here: https://www.instagram.com/p/ByoaP8CjRfo/), and a higher rep set at 8 inch deficit. They’re such an intense finisher, you can see I can’t even finish the final rep on the first set.
. Stem cell is taking. I couldn’t do this beforehand. I don’t know if I could ever have done this before actually. As one of my clients put it today, I guess I’ve come to specialize in non-surgical knee replacement. It’s been 10 days since stem cell injection into my right knee to help cure the laxity. I’ve got about a hundred fewer pounds on the bar than prior to procedure (video: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bym-PHrjGFu/); and that feels about right for right now in the stages of healing.
One thing I didn’t talk about in prior posts was eating for recovery. I made the mistake previously of under-eating after my pec tear surgery, which was so fundamentally flawed in hindsight. This past week, on the contrary, I hit 500grams of protein per day leading up to, on, and the days after injection. That, plus more than my normal carb and fat intake left me feeling puffy for sure. But that temporary body comp cost is worth the outcome. I’ve written plenty of times about sufficiency. Stay tuned, as I’ll be posting some of the mobility work which was surprisingly BETTER than before procedure already. |
